Psychiatric/Personality Assessments
Psychiatric/personality assessments are evaluations that examine a person’s psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning. They require the person to complete questionnaires or checklists. As part of the assessment, your medical and family history will be reviewed. A person’s family history is relevant with many mental health conditions as some disorders are passed down through genes.
Why Have A Psychiatric/Personality Assessment?
The goal of a general psychiatric evaluation is to establish whether a diagnosis is present that requires treatment, collect data in support of a diagnosis, create a treatment plan or assess the need for immediate intervention, and identify any longer-term issues that require follow-up care.
